Another former NE Patriot joins the show today. We will “kick it around” starting a 5p central/ 6 east today… Tune in to find out …
Will it take a bi-coastal World Series – Dodgers/Yankees to get anyone excited? I’m pulling for anything Baltimore given what Brandon Hyde is getting done in the Inner Harbor. Yet, their late summer swoon is making them look dicey.
Can Carson Beck truly be as good as advertised? The Georgia QB has the best O-line in football – maybe NFL good- to fire from behind.
Our DJ Shields – an admitted “homer” thinks Texas runs the table … he and Giovanna hit the show late this week. They comprise our “Dallas Duo.”
Billy Napier has Florida facing a brutal schedule – look at the last five games finishing up with Florida State. Somewhere Steve Spurrier is smiling …
I’m taking Caitlin Clark over Angel Reese and her rough & tumble teammates on August 30th in Chicago.
I actually enjoy watching the Chicago White Sox. Like slowing down to view a neighboring car wreck I suppose.
Chip Kelly looks poised to crank up the Ohio State offense. Imagine he and Ryan Day – two New Hampshire guys- ushering in another National Title for the Buckeyes? Beating Michigan won’t likely be a problem; it’s the Georgia’s, Oregon’s & the Texas’ of the world …
The Chicago Bears are the “Now” team in the NFL this season. The supporting cast of rookie sensation ( ok, potential sensation ) is outstanding. Keenan Allen, DJ Moore, Rome Odunze along with TE Cole Kmet loom large for Da’ Bears.
The Bears don’t see a NFC North foe until mid-November in the mother of all scheduling quirks.
11-7 is the number I see.
The EPL kicks off this weekend in all its glory. Host Tyler LaVigne previews all week long on Sports Byline …
Happy Birthday Charley Rachelle Tirrell! 13 years have flown by and you are the sweetest daughter a Dad could have!
Recapping the Paris 2024 Summer Games takes center stage this weekend on Sports Byline… 7p-10p Eastern Saturday night …
“First Touch” Soccer show with Tyler LaVigne & Nike Bifsas has one half of the team in Athens, Greece.
Football Talk rolls into high gear with DJ Shields…new show coming and we think you will love it!
The Red Sox might just be breathing down the necks of the Baltimore Orioles as the Birds continue their slide …
Saturday night September 7th we’ll be live in Ann Arbor after Michigan-Texas tilt…
The U.S. Open figures to be epic once more. Coco Gauff needs to put Paris in the rear view mirror and here’s saying she does in a BIG way.
LeBron showed what determination, Refuse to Lose toughness is all about Thursday versus Serbia. Spare me Bronny talk, JJ and other rubbish; James spelled it BRAWNY: grind til you win or die!
How bout’ Gabby Thomas? Lost in the Biles, Ladecky groundswell, her 200 (m) performance in a word: sensational!
Folks in Western Massachusetts especially giddy today; Thomas is from Northampton, Mass.; went to the prestigious Williston/Northampton School and graduated from Harvard with a degree in neurobiology.
Her family has great connections at UMass/Amherst thru her father; she has a twin brother Andrew and the Thomas family is beloved throughout the Bay State.
Just an amazing young lady and family!
Watching the Romanian gymnast being taken down by a post defacto scoring adjustment was sad to watch. Ana Barbosu —- no athlete at ANY level — should never be subjected to such humiliation.
So let’s see? The score change was the result of a recognition of the U.S. gymnast’s “degree of difficulty?” Why do the judges get a “mulligan” on their scoring acumen? Pay attention to the routines and know every facet thereof!
This is a disgrace! US gymnast Jordan Chiles received a 0.1 upward boost knocking Barbosu off the bronze medal spot on the podium. The U.S. coaching staff initiated the appeal. The rules allow for it. Change the rules.
Romania’s Prime Minister is boycotting the Closing Ceremonies— can’t blame him.
If it’s the Olympics there’s going to be both breathing moments of accomplishments and unnecessary despair to young athletes who already are challenged mentally by intense media coverage.
Ana Barbosu was subjected to cruelty & abuse. Her country will honor her as a medal winner. Beautiful move. But they can’t erase the video of a humiliating snub on a global stage. Pray that some good can emerge from this or, if nothing else, the stupidity and laziness of the judging panel gets its due.
Watching Freddie Freeman come up to the plate after a 10 day absence to attend to his ailing son was heartwarming. The Dodger superstar returned to LA from a road trip upon word his son was diagnosed with Guillen-Barre’s syndrome— a serious neurological affliction.
Freeman was showered with a standing ovation, rival Philadelphia Phillies players doffed caps and touched their hearts and FF wept openly. Gulp.
Brittany Griner, meantime, rebuffs the U.S. National Anthem at the Olympics which is sick and mind-boggling. Griner served 9 months in a Russian jail possessing drug paraphernalia while playing in the country two years ago.
President Biden facilitated an inmate swap to free Griner giving up a felonious arms dealer in exchange for her immediate freedom.
She expresses her gratitude by turning her back on our anthem? On an Olympic stage with millions watching?
For the last 25- plus years we had Tiger Woods & Phil Mickelson rivaling on the golf courses. It was awesome to watch amid steely tension between the two. Those days are securely tucked away in our respective memory banks; they are available to re-visit with a simple click.
Fast forward to today and we have another rivalry in hand between Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele. This one has a lot of potentially epic battles sans the icy relationship.
Xander has two majors on his resume with PGA and Open Championship titles this season alone. Scheffler matched Xander’s Olympic Gold on Sunday in France.
This will be worth watching for the next decade, perhaps longer!
Welcome to the world of sports steaming … and it’s going— actually has already- to yet another level.
As our own Brock Hines aptly points out, NBC’s Peacock is absolutely crushing these 24 Summer Games from Paris.
Once you get over desired events being only on Peacock, you just click and away you go.
Look, the NFL set the bar. Live games are headed to streaming – sooner than not- exclusively because the money is just too good.
We are all becoming phone and tablet junkies and it serves our in and out watching tendencies — especially baseball and soccer which can get a tad tedious.
Start-to-finish viewing resides In Footballville— both college and pro for sure. That is a hard and true fact.
Before too much longer, we are going to look back and chuckle at how we consumed content and will adjust over time. This is not to say the home set up will change that dramatically- it won’t … except you’ll be synched up to a stream service and will pay the freight with a click.
Nice to see Jayson Tatum play and start for USA hoopsters. Steve Kerr has the unenviable task of keeping a lot of massive egos in check. No thanks….
The Yankees streak was quite predictable. Jazz Chisholm, Jr. had a reputation as a “clubhouse lawyer” and has been anything but. 4 homers in his first 3 games in pinstripes an all-time first…
NBC’s ratings — massive as they are— are well-deserved. Excellent coverage and Mike Tirico’s hosting is superb! Basketball is not fitted for prime time for a good reason: Gymnastics and swimming carries the television torch…
Brazil’s soccer sensation Marta tossed on red card which was the right call bummer that it was…
4 weeks from tonight: Minnesota vs. North Carolina in college football.
Bears and Caleb Williams tonight in Canton. Bears hope it isn’t the last time he goes there!
