On August 22, 2019, it was announced that The Walt Disney Company would acquire twenty-one regional Fox Sports networks from Sinclair Broadcast Group, including Fox Sports Detroit. The sale was completed on March 23, 2020. As a result of the acquisition, Fox Sports Detroit was relaunched as Bally Sports Detroit on March 31, 2021.
