Upward Basketball Ages
Upward Basketball is a Christian sports program for kids that helps them develop physically, mentally, and spiritually. The program is open to kids in kindergarten through 6th grade, and each child must be at least 5 years old by December 1st of the year they want to play. Upward Basketball is offered at many churches around the country, and First Baptist Church is one of them! Here are more details about the program:
Physical Development:
Upward Basketball helps kids develop their physical skills by teaching them the fundamentals of the game. They will learn how to shoot, pass, dribble, and rebound. They will also learn how to play defense and run plays offensively. All of this will help them not only in basketball, but in other sports as well.
Mental Development:
Basketball requires split-second decisions and good hand-eye coordination. Upward Basketball will help your child develop these skills by teaching them how to think quickly and react properly to whatufffds happening on the court. This will benefit them in school too as they learn how to focus and pay attention.
Spiritual Development:
Each practice begins with a short devotional time where your child will learn about Godufffds love for them. The coaches also share biblical truths during halftime of each game. At the end of the season, there is an awards ceremony where your child will receive a certificate recognizing their participation along with an Upward Sports Bible medallion.
