The Michigan Wolverines football team represents the University of Michigan in college football. The Wolverines compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Legends Division of the Big Ten Conference. Despite having one of the oldest and most storied football programs in all of college football, dating back to 1879, the Wolverines have only won 11 national championships and 42 conference championships. However, they have appeared in a record 46 bowl games and have played in more than 1,000 games overall.

Since then, Michigan has appeared in 46 bowl games (a record for any school), including 24 major bowl appearances (second behind only Notre Dame). They have also played in more than 1,000 games overall, another record for any school.
While they haven’t been as successful as some other programs over the years, winning just 11 national championships and 42 conference titles, they are still considered one of the elite teams in college football. Their passionate fan base ensures that every home game is sold out and that they are always among the leaders in attendance each year.
